You can give without loving,

but you cannot love without giving. Amy Carmichael

Been thinking (and talking) about this.
There is always need.
Not just over there...
right here.
The thing is, once you see it
you can't get it out of your head
and just have to tell as many possible
in case they didn't know
and might be able to...love.

Amy Carmichael: Can Brown Eyes Be Made Blue (Little Lights)Remember Amy Carmichael?
She is a favorite in our house.
Little girls would giggle as we read that she was so bothered that her eyes were not blue.  Turned out that God knew brown eyes were a better look in India.  She formed the Dohnavur Fellowship with the purpose of rescuing children (little girls) from the corruption of temple service.  Did you know that she influenced many to missionary service, including Jim and Elizabeth Elliot?Cool. I read that fact in Chapter 4 No Scar? in Great for God by David Shibley.
Great for God

I would describe Great for God as an introductory manual.  Each chapter gives detail to the birth, death, legacy, quote of 23 missionaries.
Some trivia fun...
Who was the Founder of Sudan Interior Mission?
Who said "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose"?
Was a devout Christian athlete?
Said "Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God" ? World Vision and Samaritan's Purse ☺.
The greatest mission hearted pastor in history?
Founder of Wycliffe Bible Translators?

Rowland Bingham.  Jim Elliot.  Eric Liddell.  Bob Pierce.  Oswald J. Smith.  William Cameron Townsend.

Do any of you do the 4 gift thing?☺
if you do, Great for God might be thing they read
and a great resource for the family library.

What a great idea on how to simplify for Christmas.

I received a copy of this book from New Leaf Press for the purpose of review.
